July/August Beauty Empties

Hey Guys!!! This is my first ever empties review!!! These is going to be a wrap up of all my trash from the last two months, are you so excited???? It’s all the products we used up and loved/or didn’t love, minus stuff like toilet paper, but I could totally include that in the future if you were interested… we like the one with the bears, its super soft on the bum – just like in the commercials.

Also, check out my video below if you would refer to watch me say all the things I just wrote, but in my own voice and not the voice of me in your head. Doesn’t that sound confusing? We both know you know what I’m saying though, so don’t act like you don’t. AND Subscribe to my YouTube channel too so you never miss a video!

Ok, let’s dive right in!

Makeup I clearly have a commitment problem with make-up, I hardly ever actually finish a makeup product before I get bored and rotate – so this list is admittedly pretty weak…

Anastasia Brow Wiz – probably the only makeup product I have to buy regularly, color Taupe. Will buy again.

Clinique – take off the day, love this, received as part of a gift and it works so well. No real aroma, no drying alcohol feel, very gentle on my sensitive skin. Also great at removing face paint and temporary tattoos on the kids! BONUS. Will buy this again.

The Pore professional by Benefit – I love this product, this time I got the pearlized primer and I thought it was nice for summer. I will repurchase this brand but for fall/winter I will probably go with the matte and the larger size.

Ulta Beauty Dewy Makeup Setting Spray – I loved this at first, has a light coconut smell and the “dewy” look was also perfect for summer months. My only complaint was it got junky recently and the spritz was a bit clumpy, I had to wash the nozzle a few times before use to ensure an even spray. I will be purchasing another setting spray for sure, but I might look for an aerosol style to avoid that water droplet effect in my face.

Quicktan by Body drench – there isn’t much to say about this, I love it so much. Gives great color, doesn’t break me out, and it’s very affordable. Will buy again.

Skincare I have very dry, highly sensitive skin so these products are geared toward that skin type. Large pores and aging/mature skin, old AF basically…

Neutrogena Face Wash – $8-$10 price point from target. I wanted to love this. I used it once at the beach because it was in the shower, my sister in law had it and I had forgot to bring my facewash into the shower and it was nice, it wasn’t drying and I didn’t break out. So, when I ran out of my expensive face wash I bought this and after like 3 washes I realized it was not going to work for me, my face dehydrated and got itchy and burny. I had to go back to my normal face wash. Pass on this, bummer too.

HyMed, gentle skin cleanser – This is a Gucci facewash, I’m not going to kid myself but truthfully it is the only thing I can use and not feel like I want to rip my skin off after a shower. Apparently, I have water induced dermatitis which means my face gets irritated when I use water, makes things really fun. So this wash is what I’ll be sticking with and it’s not fun, or pretty and doesn’t smell like anything but it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and takes my makeup off easily so its tried and true and it was prescribed by a skin clinician, the lady who did my IPL at the facial plastic surgery center so I feel like it’s certainly a quality product, even though I can’t really pronounce any of the ingredients ($20-$30) Just bought my refill.

Epionce Medical Barrier Cream – $20 again, got this from my facial clinician and its amazingly boring with no fun smell but it is one of the only truly hydrating emollient creams that doesn’t cause me any irritation or breakouts. Will buy again.

Obagi Medical – Hydrate Luxe, $70 a Gucci hydrating cream worth every penny when I was using my Retin-A. The retin-A was extremely drying, especially going through the “ugly phases” in the beginning, I would lather this on like a mask at night and it was a god-send. However, now that I’m pregnant I can’t use the retin-a and so I’m not needing this thick hydrating cream on a daily basis during the summer. I will likely purchase this closer to winter when my already dry skin turns Sahara dessert on me and I need something to get me through that difficult time.

PSA – everyone says, don’t buy these kinds of products off amazon/ebay – they are fakes, I purchased THIS FULL TUB in original packaging complete with the plastic seal and it is NOT the true Obagi hydrate. As a matter of fact, I had received a hydrating Olay product a while back to review/and provide feedback on and it left this residue on my face, where it didn’t actually soak in and I could rub it off, it was maybe a silicone additive or something. I’m not a fan of that and this fake obagi was exactly like that, the real obaji does not do that and soaks in completely. Bottom line, will buy again, but probably later and not off ebay, oops.

Aquaphor – my skincare is literally so boring. Aquaphor is my go-to cure all. Have a brush burn? Aquaphor. Chapped lips? Aquaphor? A little cut? Eczema Patch? Want a face Mask? Aquaphor.

It’s my MamaMia Windex.

It’s just so super gentle and universal. In the winter if the kids have a scab that’s super itchy or for chapped lips, this is truly a miracle cream. I use it on them before bed and they are 100% better in the morning. it’s a bit greasy I wouldn’t put it on in the morning but before bed its perfect. And in the summer, I do kind of a hydrating face mask on the girls before they go to bed, just rub some on their cheeks and foreheads because they get dried out from being in the pool every day. It’s also great on dry patches and eczema. And it actually absorbs unlike Vaseline which has petroleum that just sits on top your skin, Vaseline doesn’t actually hydrate, in fact petroleum dries you out more which is weird but true. Will buy again.

Body/Hair Care

Dove Shower Foam – we love this stuff. We have tried all the flavors and they are smell really great, it’s easy for the girls to use since its foam and it isn’t drying on my skin which is all I care about really. Will buy again.

Ok, first the No go’s. I wanted to love this because it smells so, so amazing. I love the smell of rose and it is so fragrant. The brand is Renupure and I got it at Target, it just doesn’t condition my hair. I have dry, dry hair and need a strong hydrating conditioner, and I prefer a strong detangler.  I was going to just ditch these, but I stuck them in the camper and Chris has been using them which is kind of a win win because they smell this small space really nice when he takes a shower and they are getting used up. I doubt I will buy again though, it’s a shame too.

Shampoo/Conditioner – anything Hask is a win in my book. Oakley’s hairstylists onset of the movie Beautiful Boy gave us a ton of Hask samples and products while we were in California and I haven’t turned back since. They are all so fragrant and so affordable. And full disclosure, in a former life I did the cosmetologist thing, so I have an account at the professional beauty supply store and I still have been Hask Strong for the past almost 2 years. You can get them anywhere, Target, Walmart, I get mine at Ulta usually because they have a bigger variety of smells. I just finished these Orchid and White Truffle and it’s a tough call which is my favorite smell. They also have a Hawaiian Sea Salt line that smells like the beach if your into that smell. SO GOOD.  In my shower right now we have the Hask Curl Care, Coconut Milk and Organic Honey. Obv, will buy again – esp this flavor.

Another staple I will continue to buy is the Batiste dray shampoo. It’s perfect. It works great for me and the girls and the only thing I would say is that it does give a bit of a white cast which works for my root situation, but if you’re a dark brunette maybe try the ones specified for dark hair. I prefer the clean smells, this one was nice and I also love Barre, honestly the only smell I didn’t care for was the rose gold one, which was the prettiest bottle, so go figure.

Kid specific – Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel. Detangler & Lice prevention. Its school season and anything I can do to not have to deal with that situation I am down with. The girls don’t love the smell, its rosemary and tea tree, I think it smells good, it’s a minty ish smell but it really doesn’t matter because I use it on them and they have to just deal with it. This was an empty I filled it with water for the summer just to comb through in the mornings but I’m tossing this and getting the real deal since school is back. Amazon, Target, Walmart, anywhere – this is a must buy for school age kids.

SPF – I did just buy this to replace the empty because I don’t know if it will be around next year and it is so fun. Its glitter SPF 50 and my girls hate getting spf’d so this really made it fun, especially when we are at the beach for two weeks so it’s basically part of the daily ritual to lube them head to toe every day. It had legit glitter, fine glitter you could really see, all 3 of the girls at the beach loved it, they asked to put it on which was so nice. I did not use it on their faces, but it worked great, we had no issues with sunburn at all. I used it once, but it left a bit of a white residue in my fat folds, skin folds/creases, so I didn’t use it again, but it was really easy to rub in which is important to me I hate the mineral spf’s that white casts you. I love taking pictures of the girls on the beach all day and a white cast will just ruin that. I will buy again for sure, very affordable compared to other glitter spf, or any spf really $8 Walmart

Guys!!! Thank you, thank you for reading my trash blog post and I’ll see you here next week, same time, same place!!! Have a wonderful week homies!!! PEACE J
