Gave the Erno Laszlo Vitamin C Peel a try, hoping it can hide the fact that I’ve been tired since 2009…

The irony is I have recently been obsessed with skin care. So getting this mask to try was perfect timing. Although it doesn’t aim to repair the issues I am concerned with, specifically why more pores look similar to the huge gaping craters you see on the moon, it did help brighten up my skin and make it feel really good though.

Side note, it says PEEL. I was really looking forward to peeling my face mask off, like back in the day when you got those cucumber masks that smelled like soap and my girlfriends and I would use them at middle school sleepovers and give ourselves nightmares from literally pulling our skin off in front off each other. But the results were soooo real; “like, oh my goodness Ashley, your face looks as smooth as the day you were born”

I’ve never been a skincare junkie. I wish I had been but I hardly even gave a crap about washing my makeup off at night, or the next day for that matter. You’ve heard the saying “last nights eyeliner can be today’s smokey eye if you believe in yourself” I know, I sound gross but it’s true, you can really get a great natural smokey eye… j/k. Basically, I didn’t see any damage so what was there to worry about? Pores. That’s what I should have been worried about. WTF, why doesn’t school teach us this shit? I also don’t get zits ever, blessing? No. It’s not. My skin is so bone dry there is no oil to even make a zit, much less hydrate itself. I’m like an ashy mummified living human.

Apparently, I have mild rosacea, which I don’t really know what that even is but dermatologists like to throw it around whenever I visit. I know my cheeks feel wind burnt all the time so I am assuming that’s the rosacea portion.

Initial Thoughts

The packaging is really fancy, I’m not going to lie I love products in pretty, fancy boxes. Makes me feel glamourous. There were 3 items included, step 1, the orange peel, step 2 the oil activator, and item 3, a gelato spoon for eating gelato, or spreading the peel onto your face, your choice.

Step 1;

Smell was nice, not too overbearing or strong. It was nice and cool, yet gritty. Massage for upto 3 minutes. My skin is sensitive, like my soul, so the grit was irritating off the bat. It didn’t hurt, but I knew I would be feeling it later, like when I put on a hydrating cream.

I put way too much on the first time. It ran all over my lips, which went numb and good lord do not get this in your mouth it is repulsive.

Add some activator into your hand and massage for about an additional minute. The activator gets warm. I wasn’t expecting that but it was pretty fun. When applied to your face and massaged in it got a bit frothy.

These are the after results. Kinda awful images right after, since I feel like my skin was inflamed a bit. It felt like I had just been dragged around the carpet on my face so probably not an ideal time to take an “after” shot but live and learn, right? I should have just waited a bit longer, it calmed down and did end up looking brighter.

I ended up giving this mask another try on my Instagram story. I will attach that video below for live reference. I took an after shot a few minutes later after my face calmed down and the results were much more clear. It did brighten my skin significantly so I would recommend this product to people looking for an illuminating mask or a mask to exfoliate and give you some freshness and brightness.
